Game-Changing Construction Technology
The RENCO Composite Construction System, developed by RENCO—established in 2007 by Yeşil Holding through a major R&D investment—ushered in a new era in the construction sector. Having executed numerous projects domestically and abroad, particularly in the USA, RENCO made its name in Turkey with its earthquake-resistant housing project in Nurdağı in collaboration with TOKİ. Ali Yeşil, the General Manager in charge of Business Development at RENCO, emphasized that compared to other construction techniques, the system offers a cost saving of 10% to 30% and a construction time three times faster. Yeşil stated, “The most important feature of buildings constructed with RENCO is their earthquake resistance.”
General Manager Cihangir Cebeci of RENCO’s Turkish facility mentioned that they plan to focus on urban transformation projects in Turkey in the near future. He noted that their production facility in Manisa has an annual capacity of 5,000 homes, and that this capacity can be rapidly increased if necessary.
Operating under Yeşil Holding, RENCO is giving a new direction to the construction sector with its RENCO Composite Construction System. Among its advantages—earthquake resistance, durability, long service life, and low cost—the most striking feature is its ability to reduce construction time from months to weeks or even days compared to conventional methods.
From Residential to Hangars
Buildings constructed with the RENCO Composite Construction System are assembled by joining fiber composite bricks and various composite structural elements—produced from recyclable and natural materials such as fiberglass, PET resin, and mineral powder—using an interlocking assembly system reminiscent of LEGO toys. This system enables the construction of buildings ranging from villas to apartments, hotels to factories, warehouses to hangars, and even bulletproof security structures as well as educational and healthcare facilities.
Patent Obtained Worldwide
Ali Yeşil, General Manager in charge of Business Development at RENCO, stated that RENCO, established in 2007 by Yeşil Holding with a major R&D investment, continues its journey as a technology company that has obtained a patent for its unique construction system worldwide. He noted that the RENCO Composite Construction System underwent 440 different ANSI standard tests and approval processes over 8 years and was approved as the fourth construction system in the USA in 2019. “As of 2023, we are eligible to obtain our 10th patent in the USA. To date, we have implemented independent and social housing projects as well as projects in the commercial, educational, and healthcare sectors for public and private institutions in Turkey, the USA, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia,” he added.
Three Times Faster Construction Time
Ali Yeşil emphasized that the RENCO Composite Construction System offers numerous advantages compared to commonly used construction systems, most notably its resistance to disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes, its durability, long service life, eco-friendliness, and the cost savings it provides. He highlighted that the products constituting the system are produced from natural and recycled materials, stating:
Less Human and Machine Power
“In this respect, RENCO is an eco-friendly system that allows buildings to be delivered three times faster and become operational more quickly compared to other construction techniques. Moreover, its unique assembly technique requires less human and machine power, which translates to a cost saving of 10% to 30%. The earthquake resistance and durability are due to the properties of the material and the assembly technique. In this system, all components perform equally as load-bearing elements, ensuring that the impact of vibrations is evenly distributed to the ground. It is six times lighter than reinforced concrete buildings. In addition to offering numerous advantages during construction, buildings made with the RENCO Composite Construction System require minimal maintenance over a service life of more than 100 years. This product, which has natural water barriers, is highly resistant to mold and rust and does not contain substances such as cellulose that could serve as a food source for pests. The system has also successfully passed 1- and 2-hour heavy-load fire resistance tests.”
Its Success Proven by Awards
Describing the RENCO Composite Construction System as a product of strategic importance for Yeşil Holding, Yeşil stated that it aims to elevate global construction standards and to have Yeşil Holding recognized worldwide for its sustainable and innovative building solutions. “The international awards the system has received further reinforce our leadership in innovation. The ‘Best Composite Design Award of the Year’ that RENCO won at the 2024 JEC Innovation Awards once again underscores our team’s creativity, dedication, and pursuit of excellence. Additionally, the RENCO MCFR project was honored with the ‘Construction Product Design of the Year’ award at the BLT Built Design Awards in Switzerland. Under the International Building Code, IAPMO-UES has certified its superior qualities, material quality, structural integrity, and resistance to fire and environmental conditions,” he explained.
Preparing to Open a Factory in the USA
Ali Yeşil noted that RENCO Composite Construction System products are manufactured at RENCO’s facility in Manisa and announced that the brand’s second facility investment has been made in the USA. “We are establishing a factory in Palm Beach, Florida, to reduce production and transportation costs for projects we are implementing in the USA. We plan to launch our new facility, designed with state-of-the-art technology and a fully robotic process, in July. With this facility—having greater capacity than our Manisa factory—we expect the usage of the system in the USA to increase. Based on feedback received so far, we estimate that we will capture an 8% market share in the USA residential construction market within 10 years,” he added.
Will Focus on Urban Transformation Projects
Cihangir Cebeci, General Manager of RENCO’s Turkish facility, stated that RENCO currently has sufficient production capacity to manufacture 5,000 homes per year in Turkey. He explained that with the RENCO Composite Construction System, they aim to offer safe living spaces for those living in earthquake-prone areas. “In addition, we are discussing a construction system that is very suitable for the urban transformation and reserve housing projects that our country now urgently needs to accelerate. That is why urban transformation projects are among our top priorities. We also plan to execute educational and commercial building projects,” he said. Noting that the system is not yet widely recognized in Turkey, Cebeci added, “For now, we are implementing sample projects to allow our citizens to experience the system firsthand. We believe that thanks to our joint projects with TOKİ, the system will be rapidly adopted. The project we carried out with TOKİ in Nurdağı was very well received by officials and garnered significant media attention. We are working with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to continue this cooperation.”
